Tip:
When storing a pH electrode it is always important to keep both the electrode and junction hydrated.  The glass sensing bulb has to be hydrated since a hydrated layer is formed as part of the electrode characteristic.  The junction is kept wet to prevent the salt from precipitating and keep the diffusion of the electrode from the reference cell into the sample.  If storage solution (HI 70300) is not available than pH 4 is recommended.  The reason that pH 4 is reccomended over the other buffers is that growth including bacterial, mold, and fungal are inhibited at lower pH's.
