Description
TDS is a conductivity measurement and determines the ability a solution to conduct an electrical charge. TDS is commonly used to determine the concentration of salt in saltwater pools, hot tubs and spas. These bodies of water can use the process of electrolysis to convert the chloride portion of salt to chlorine. It is critical to maintain the ideal level of salt for the efficiency of the electrolytic process. Too little salt will result in too little chlorine being produced. Too much can make the pool unpleasant to swim in.
